Dormitory Car #9 was originally PRR heavyweight sleeper URBANA, built in 1925 by Pullman-Standard as a 12-section, 1-drawing room sleeping car. Provided housing for rotating teams of college men serving as docents on the train. Loaned by the PRR to the West Virginia Centennial Special, and, later, the Montana Centennial Train in 1964. To Penn Central 8965 and retired in 1962. To Penn Central MofW 27420. Now at White Deer, PA.

Note that this was the only car of the WVCS that had a straight edge along the bottom of the car sides. The others had paneling that extended down to near the railhead between the trucks. It was also the only car with an obvious door on each side - where the end vestibule door was.

Not much of a view from this dormitory.
