Marlboro Unlimited Train
#0002
Locomotive

An F59PHI with much the same story as locomotive 0001. Both rolled out in late 1995. Both were stored in Livingston, ID before moving on to Metrolink. This one was serial number 946543-2.

One unique feature of this pair of diesels is that they were modified with the ability to sync the phase of their HEP electrical output before supplying their combined output to the passenger cars of their train. The plan was to run the locomotive's generators in parallel with the power output from power car #3.

Like #0001, the locomotive was sold to Metrolink in Los Angeles in 1998 and served in commuter service as Metrolink SCAX 883. It was retired in ~2019.

Athearn modeled #883 in HO and N scales.
