Buffet Diner
582
Built by Budd in 1948 for the California Zephry as a 16-section sleeper. Owner Western Pacific Railroad converted it to a 48-seat coach in 1963/64 with no change of name or number -- # 872, SILVER POPLAR.
While owned by auto-train, the car was stored on an SCL siding opposite the Sanford Amtrak depot. The car was intended to be AT 582, a buffet-dining car like AT 580. It was never refurbished or repainted for AT.
