Colorado
Merci Train Boxcar
The Colorado
boxcar has been missing for many years.
This plaque
from the car is in the collection of the Colorado Railroad Museum
in Golden.
The contents of the car were unpacked at the Weicker Transfer and Storage Company.
Some of the gifts went on display in the windows of the May company.
Later, the 587 gifts were to be distributed through school superintendents to Colorado's 63 counties.
According to The Denver Post on 20 Feb 1949, the car itself was to go to the Forty and Eight honorary organization of the American Legion.
If you have
any further information on the car, please email.
