The MPA Special was a project of the Apparatus Department of General Electric. It was an attempt to display GE's complete range of products for the generation, distribution, and industrial utilization of electricity. The 10 exhibit cars of the train were set up with 11 distinct sections - Power Generation, Transmission & Distribution; Drives & Controls, Materials Handling, Welding, Industrial Heating, Renewal Parts, Industrial Lighting, Components for Industry, Measurements, Civic Improvements, and National Security.
This
list is a work-in-progress -- and probably always will be.

A POWER CAR in the form of a Baggage-Dorm containing four electrical generators to help power the exhibits and the air conditioning. Also necessary for powering the sleepers and dining car on the train. |

A DINING CAR was a normal part of the train, added to serve the 20+ staffers who traveled with the train. |

TWO SLEEPING CARS (presumably Pullmans) were part of the train, added to provide accommodations for the 20+ staffers who traveled with the train. These cars got little notice. The train was usually referred to by GE as a 10-car train, but sometimes newspapers would refer to it as a 15-car train - and these staff cars are the reason why. |
