The Discovery Train was pulled by diesels belonging to whatever road the train was on.

The Canadian Pacifc is seen handling the train here at Revelstoke between Calgary and Vancouver.

Canadian Pacific 4711 & 4729 lead the Discovery Train across the Badlands and into Falconbridge in July 1980.
