Phil Mason was the head end trainman on the train June 14, 1979, seen here at Revelstoke, BC.

Revelstoke is a crew terminal on the CPR main line between Calgary and Vancouver. Forty four miles west of Revelstoke, what was at that time the CP's branchline down the Okanagan valley branches off to the south to Vernon.

At Vernon, the CN continued south to Kelowna, where the Discovery Train was to be exhibited.
