The first 4 photos were taken at Antigonish, Nova Scotia on August 10, 1978. The train was enroute to Sydney, NS on CN’s Hopewell Subdivision (now the Cape Breton and Central Nova Scotia Railway).

The rear open-end Observation Car - Alexandra. After serving on the Discovery Train, Alexandra was eventually set up beside a highway in Amherst, NS as the town’s Tourist Bureau for a number of years. The car was built at Amherst by the Rhodes - Curry Co. in 1905. In 2007 the car was acquired by the Nova Scotia Railway Heritage Society and moved to the Train Station Inn.
