Discovery Train
Boutique Car
The Trading Post

The inside of this special car was a replica of a 19th century Hudson Bay Company trading post.

According to staffer Brian Pearce, as Canada's oldest retailer, the Hudson Bay Company had been asked to participate. The store's staff were the only people on the train not employed by the National Museums of Canada.

August 10, 1978 passing through Antigonish, NS on the way to Sydney.

Canadian Discovery Train

One of three (and from 1979, four) former baggage cars used for storage and maintenance on the Discovery Train. It was usually the 18th car from the back of the train, although the order of the storage cars was changed around quite often.
The number 219 was stenciled on the end.

Ramps led up to the entrance and exit. If anyone knows more about The Trading Post or its contents, please email.

The car's current disposition is unknown as it does not seem to have been among the former Discovery Train cars scrapped in the Nevada desert in 1995.

August 11, 1978 in Sydney, NS.
