The ACL & SAL Historical Society
LINES SOUTH auto-train issues

The Atlantic Coast Line and Seaboard Air Line Railroads Historical Society, Inc. publishes a magazine-sized periodical called Lines South.

Several issues have had scholarly articles on the operation of the 1971-1981 Auto-Train Corporation.

Most, if not all, are still available from the society.

Of particular interest:

Vol 20 No. 3 - Part 1 of William E. Griffin, Jr's article "The auto-train Story".

ACL & SAL Historical Society LINES SOUTH Vol 20 No 3

Vol 20 No. 4 - Part 2 of William E. Griffin, Jr's article "The auto-train Story".

ACL & SAL Historical Society LINES SOUTH Vol 20 No 4

Vol 21 No. 1 - Paul Faulk's article "Modeling auto-train". Also an article by Joseph L. Oats on Amtrak's original Auto-Train. Hint: It's not the one you're thinking of!

ACL & SAL Historical Society LINES SOUTH Vol 21 No 1

Vol 18 No. 1 - Dale Diacont's article "Up Close with SCL's U36Bs" also looks at the auto-train locos.

Check out their web site here.
