Months before the run of the 21st Century Limited, an advance train was to scout the route of the eventual main train. It would tour the country to promote the train and preview potential display sites. |

A pilot train was to run ahead of the main train. It would be a show train all its own, hauling mobile pavilions and structures for the train's corporate sponsors.
